Windstorm Damage
When evaluating a property that has been damaged by winds, there are
several important questions to consider:
- How do I repair every single damaged item so that the whole property is in at least as
good condition it was in one second before the winds - no better but no worse?
If you were offered two properties for the same price that were
identical in all ways except that one property had been damaged in a windstorm, which
would you buy? Why? Be extremely specific, it may be worth a great deal of money to you.
- What is missing?
- What does your policy say you are owed?
- What were you told before you bought the policy?
Even if you think you understand what the words in your policy mean and even if you are
right, it may not be the end of the story. The difference between what you think you are
owed and the truth of the matter is often more than you imagine.
If you were told you didn't understand everything about nuclear
physics, would you be upset?
If you were told you probably don't understand everything about your
insurance policy and what you are owed, would you be upset?
Would you still be upset if accepting this fact was
potentially worth thousands of dollars to you?
It is.
